Course Reflection SPAN 304
I took SPAN 304 or Introduction to literature in the fall of 2018. This class was one of the most difficult ones for me. As it name says it was an introduction to all literature both the peninsular and Latin American. We studied los movimientos literarios como; el siglo de oro, el misticismo, el romanticismo, el modernismo, el postmodernismo, las vanguardias, el boom literario y la generación del 98’.Among these movements we study authors such as; Santa Teresa de Jesús, San Juan de la Cruz, Garcilaso de la Vega, Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, Julio Cortázar, Emilia Pardo Bazán, Luisa Valenzuela among others ... we learned a lot about prose and poetry. I learned to identify the literary figures as, Metaphor, simile, antithesis, parabola, synecdoche, polisindeton etc. What was most difficult for me in this course was the versification of the poems. I never found the correct number of syllables, although I enjoyed to count the syllables and find the rhyme. The first exam was easy but the second exam was very difficult for me. I learned a lot throughout this class. My favorite author of this class was Bécquer. In my final exam I decided to write about Rima LIII by Bécquer. This rhyme touches two very important topics that are love and lack of love. To put into practice what I learned I had the opportunity to present about the avant-garde and I liked it a lot because I was able to dig a little more about this topic.
Here is my presentation that I made for my Span 304 class.
