Course Reflection SPAN 365
In the class of SPAN 365 we learned the importance of the word Chicano. In this class we studied different Chicano authors. We read works by Tomas Rivera, Sandra Cisneros, Reyna Grande, Alicia Galván de Alba, Rodolfo Corky Gonzales. In these readings we could see the problems of the Chicano community. They describe situations of immigrants, the difficulties suffered by rural workers and the difference between cultures. Another very important topic that we studied in this class was feminism in the works of Reyna Grande, this theme goes hand in hand with machismo. These issues are very relevant in the Chicano community. Another of the works that we studied was "...y no se lo tragó la tierra" by Tomas Rivera, this narration showed us the problems faced by the workers of the field some time ago and those problems still reflected today. Sandra Cisneros touches very deep issues such as domestic violence. One of the authors that most affected us was Gaspar de Alba with his work "Las muertas de Juárez" This novel tells the tragic story of femicide. SPAN 365 was one of the classes that most impact me because the topics seen in class we continue to see in society.
Here is an Essay about one of the many books that I read in the Span 365 class.
