Course Reflection SPAN 426
In the course of SPAN 426, we were able to develop reading skills where we had to read famous writers from Latin America. For example, some of the authors that we read are Julio Cortázar, where we learned themes of existentialism, of the other me, and how the writer works on these themes in his stories. Another author we have read is Gabriel García Márquez, in his work ¨Cien años de soledad¨ he made us see how the writer presents the sociopolitical issues of the country of Colombia and Latin American peoples. Another author we have seen in class was Mario Vargas Llosa, his novel that we saw was "La fiesta del chivo," where we talked about Trujillo's military dictatorship that took place between 1931-1961. This course has given us the opportunity to develop reading comprehension skills with stories and novels read in class. In this class, we were also able to develop speaking skills through group presentations. We also had the opportunity to discuss in class about the topics that we grew in class.
Here is a power point that I presented in my Span 426 class.
